Because they measure different things. The pool bar is a live total across open entries. A Weekly Mega or Monthly Jackpot figure is the top prize for that specific draw, built from sales into that category alone as the countdown runs.

Early in a cycle the live float can look modest while the schedule still shows multi-million headline prizes. Those headlines are the published jackpot bands for each draw type (for example Monthly ~$4.85M to $12.85M). As more tickets sell into that category before close, that draw’s own jackpot moves within its band. Matching fewer than six numbers still pays a published slice of that draw’s jackpot, not of the site-wide pool bar.
